Medical Information
Composition
Dosage form — solution for inhalation. The product contains 100% isoflurane as the active substance. There are no excipients. In appearance, the product is a clear, colourless liquid.
Purpose
Isoflurane Miralek is used as an inhalation anaesthetic for general and maintenance anaesthesia in dogs and cats. The product is used for anaesthesia and analgesia with loss of consciousness during laparoscopic and thoracoscopic procedures, brain and spinal surgery, traumatology, and obstetrics.
Application
The medicinal product is intended only for stationary use under the supervision of an anaesthesiologist veterinarian. The product is administered by inhalation. To ensure accurate concentration control, use vaporizers specially calibrated for isoflurane. For cats: – 2.0–3.0% isoflurane mixed with oxygen for 3–5 minutes for induction of anaesthesia; – 1.5–2.0% isoflurane mixed with oxygen for maintenance of anaesthesia; – 3 minutes before the end of surgery, pure oxygen is administered to bring the animal out of anaesthesia. For dogs: – 2.0–2.5% isoflurane mixed with oxygen for 3–5 minutes for induction of anaesthesia; – 1.5–1.8% isoflurane mixed with oxygen for maintenance of anaesthesia; – 3 minutes before the end of surgery, pure oxygen is administered to bring the animal out of anaesthesia. Increasing the depth of anaesthesia with Isoflurane Miralek may enhance hypotension and respiratory depression.
Contraindications
Do not use the product in cases of hypersensitivity to isoflurane or other halogen-containing anaesthetics. Do not use in animals with confirmed or suspected genetic predisposition to malignant hyperthermia, myopathy, muscular dystrophy, myotonia, jaundice and/or fever of unknown origin, hepatic insufficiency, eosinophilia after the use of isoflurane or other halogenated anaesthetics. The product should not be used in the first half of pregnancy.
Features
Isoflurane Miralek belongs to the pharmacotherapeutic group “agents for anaesthesia”. Isoflurane is an inhalation anaesthetic belonging to the group of halogenated anaesthetics. The product causes rapid induction of general anaesthesia, suppression of swallowing and laryngeal reflexes, and moderate myorelaxation. As the depth of general anaesthesia increases, arterial pressure decreases proportionally, while the heart rate remains stable. Isoflurane is a strong respiratory depressant. The animal’s breathing must be carefully monitored and supported when necessary. The product is not intended for use in food-producing animals.
Shelf life
The shelf life of the medicinal product, when storage conditions are observed, is 3 years from the date of manufacture. After opening the bottle, the shelf life is 90 days. Store the product in the manufacturer’s sealed packaging, protected from direct sunlight, away from food and feed, at a temperature from +2 °C to +25 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
