Composition

Each ml of the product contains 1 mg of medetomidine in the form of medetomidine hydrochloride, and excipients: benzyl alcohol, sodium chloride and water for injection.

Indication

The product is used in dogs and cats to produce a sedative and analgesic effect during clinical examinations, veterinary procedures and surgical interventions, and for premedication before general anaesthesia.

Administration

The product is administered to dogs and cats intravenously, intramuscularly or subcutaneously. Dogs are dosed at 0.1–0.8 ml per 10 kg of body weight, cats at 0.05–0.15 ml per 1 kg of body weight; the exact dose is determined by a veterinarian based on the required depth of sedation and the condition of the animal. Repeat administration to maintain the effect is possible 10–15 minutes after the first injection.

Contraindications

The product is not used in animals with hypersensitivity to its components, pregnant or lactating animals, animals in a state of shock, emaciated or weakened animals, or in animals with severe cardiovascular or respiratory diseases, impaired liver or kidney function, gastrointestinal tract damage, diabetes mellitus, or increased intraocular pressure.

Special precautions

After administration, the animal should be kept in a warm and calm room under the supervision of a specialist, with monitoring of respiration and cardiac activity. Until the swallowing reflex is restored, the animal should not be given food or water; atipamezole may be used to reverse the effect of medetomidine.

Shelf life

Shelf life in unopened packaging — 3 years from the date of manufacture, 90 days after first opening the vial. Store in the manufacturer's packaging, in a place protected from direct sunlight, separately from food and feed, at a temperature from +2 °C to +25 °C.
