Composition
Each ml of the product contains 10 mg of medetomidine in the form of medetomidine hydrochloride, and excipients: benzyl alcohol, sodium chloride and water for injection.
Indication
The product is used in sporting horses, wild and zoo animals to produce a sedative and analgesic effect during clinical examinations, veterinary procedures and surgical interventions.
Administration
The product is administered to sporting horses, wild and zoo animals intravenously or intramuscularly (in horses, intravenous administration is performed slowly), at doses depending on the species and body weight of the animal, the route of administration and the required depth of sedation. The exact dose is determined by a veterinarian according to the dosage table in the instructions.
Contraindications
The product must not be used in animals with individual hypersensitivity to its components, animals in a state of shock, emaciated or weakened animals, animals with severe cardiovascular or respiratory diseases, impaired liver or kidney function, gastrointestinal tract damage, diabetes mellitus, or increased intraocular pressure, or in pregnant or lactating females.
Special precautions
Medetomidine has a dose-dependent effect: low doses provide light sedation, higher doses produce pronounced sedation with analgesia. After administration, the animal should be kept in a warm room at a constant temperature, with regular monitoring of respiration and cardiac activity. If necessary, the sedative and analgesic effect can be reversed with the alpha-2 adrenoceptor antagonist atipamezole.
Shelf life
Shelf life in unopened packaging — 3 years from the date of manufacture, 90 days after first opening the vial. Store in the manufacturer's packaging, in a place protected from direct sunlight, separately from food and feed, at a temperature from +2 °C to +25 °C.
