Composition

Shieriya contains 10 mg of maropitant per 1 ml of the product in the form of citrate monohydrate, as well as excipients: benzyl alcohol, sodium sulfobutyl ether β-cyclodextrin and water for injections.

Indication

The product is used in dogs and cats for the prevention of nausea and vomiting of various origins, including vomiting associated with chemotherapeutic agents, animal transportation and surgical interventions. The product is also used for the prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting, except for recovery after anesthesia caused by μ-opioid receptor agonists.

Administration

The product is administered to dogs and cats subcutaneously or intravenously at a dose of 1 mg of maropitant per 1 kg of body weight, which corresponds to 1 ml of the product per 10 kg of body weight, once daily for no more than 5 days. For intravenous administration, the product is administered over 1–2 minutes after preliminary dilution in physiological saline.

Contraindications

The product must not be used in dogs younger than 8 weeks of age, cats younger than 16 weeks of age, or in animals with individual hypersensitivity to the components of the product. It should be used with caution in animals with liver disorders and heart failure. The product is not intended for use in food-producing animals.

Special precautions

The product is not recommended for use in pregnant and lactating females. If necessary, it should be used under veterinary supervision based on an assessment of the expected benefit-to-risk ratio. When handling the product, follow general personal hygiene and safety rules. In case of accidental contact with skin or mucous membranes, rinse with plenty of water. Maropitant is an antagonist of neurokinin NK1 receptors and inhibits the binding of substance P, which makes it effective in preventing vomiting of central and peripheral origin.

Shelf life

The shelf life of the product is 3 years from the date of manufacture when stored under the recommended conditions. After first opening the vial, the product should be used within 90 days. Store in the manufacturer's closed packaging, protected from direct sunlight, separately from food and feed, at a temperature from 2 °C to 25 °C. Do not use after the expiration date.
